Porcellio ornatus are another popular species from Spain. P. ornatus are black, edged with bright yellow. These isopods are extremely extroverted and can be found exploring the surface of their enclosure as much as the undersides of hides. Being an active and large species, Porcellio ornatus require a diet rich in calcium and protein to avoid cannibalistic behaviors. With proper diet and calcium they will breed readily and produce medium to large broods quickly. Given their bright coloration and active nature, these make great office and classroom pets!
